Iron Man Fever Begins

Iron Man 2 opens in the UK on April 30th. The trailer looks amazing.

There's so much Iron Man goodness to come in the coming months, but first up here's a press release from Marvel Studios and PropWorx.

Manhattan Beach, CA – February 25, 2010 – To celebrate the release of IRON MAN 2, fans of the blockbuster film IRON MAN will be able to own props and costumes seen in IRON MAN when Marvel Studios makes them available to the highest bidder at an auction held during C2E2 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) at McCormick Place in Chicago, April 16 – 18, 2010. Tony Stark’s Convoy Missile, the Hero Schematic Drawings of Mark I drafted inside the cave, Hero Completed Mark I Mask and Iron Man Hero Mark II RT Unit will be among nearly 225 IRON MAN props made available at the auction produced by Propworx Inc., the leading provider of high-end auctions for the film and television industry.

Those unable to attend the live auction in Chicago will be able to take part online in real time at Following the live auction in Chicago, other IRON MAN collectable items will be made available to fans on eBay.
“It is always great to involve our fans in the making of our films and now we have the chance to allow them to take a piece home with them,” stated Jordan Hudson, Marvel Studios’ Director of Production Operations. “IRON MAN has already proven to resonate with moviegoers all over the world and now each of them has the chance to own some of the greatest items seen in the film just a few weeks before the continuation of Tony Stark’s adventures in IRON MAN 2.”

Earning over $585 million in worldwide box office, IRON MAN lifted off in theatres on May 2, 2008 with high-speed, high-flying action when jet-setting industrialist Tony Stark survived an unexpected attack in enemy territory and escapes by building a high-tech robotic suit of armor. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man. Straight from the pages of the legendary comic book, IRON MAN is a hero who is built—not born—to be unlike any other.

The highly anticipated sequel, IRON MAN 2, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, John Slattery, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson., will be released on May 7, 2010 in the U.S.. In addition to IRON MAN 2, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including THOR on May 6, 2011, THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA on July 22, 2011, and THE AVENGERS on May 4, 2012.

If I won the lottery this weekend, I'd be doing some serious bidding on some of this gear!

Also, the Iron Man 2 music soundtrack will feature one band and one band alone.

AC/DC have never done a 'Greatest Hits' compilation before. The band still hold the record for the biggest selling album of all time by a band, with Back In Black. It's also the second biggest selling album ever, beaten only by Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Marvel Studios has this to say:

"Through a unique collaboration between Marvel Studios and Columbia Records, AC/DC's music will be featured in Marvel Studios' "Iron Man 2," the sequel to the 2008 blockbuster film. In addition, Columbia Records will release the album "AC/DC: Iron Man 2" on Monday, April 19, 2010. "AC/DC: Iron Man 2" features 15 classic AC/DC songs selected from 10 of the band's studio albums, ranging from 1976 to 2008.

"Jon Favreau's vision and passion for AC/DC's music blend seamlessly into this incredible film" said Steve Barnett, co-chairman of Columbia Records. "The music really underscores the high energy and excitement of the film.""

The track listing is:

01. Shoot To Thrill
02. Rock 'N' Roll Damnation
03. Guns For Hire
04. Cold Hearted Man
05. Back In Black
06. Thunderstruck
07. If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
08. Evil Walks
09. T.N.T.
10. Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be
11. Have A Drink On Me
12. The Razor's Edge
13. Let There Be Rock
14. War Machine
15. Highway To Hell

The inclusion of If You Want Blood (You've Got It) is nice to see - one of my personal favourites!

You can pre-order the Iron Man 2 soundtrack CD from HMV either in standard or deluxe edition.

Or better still, go and speak to Dan at Badlands Records!

Here's the music video for 'Shoot To Thrill', the Iron Man 2 version. Enjoy.
